MASTER GOLDSMITH WITH A VISION

Alexey Vareljan is an accomplished jeweller, oil painter, mural carver and sculptor. Classically trained in his native Russia, Alexey achieved Master Goldsmith status before relocating to Vienna, Austria, where he was first exposed to the techniques of the Western goldsmiths. Alexey currently resides in Vancouver, Canada. His work reflects a unique and harmonious marriage of classic and contemporary technique and design.

Alexey’s passion for ancient Egyptian art, mysticism, symbolism and philosophy has had a profound impact upon his art and design aesthetic. Each of his pieces tells a story. This collection, which has been years in the making was created by Alexey with the hope of resurrecting interest in ancient Egyptian philosophy and art.

EGYPTIAN MYSTICISM THROUGH DESIGN

SILVER AS A SACRED SUBSTANCE

Alexey uses a wide variety of materials for his designs including platinum, bold, silver, bronze, wood, ceramic, precious and semiprecious stones, however, silver has become his material of choice. The affordability of this precious metal allows for the greatest flexibility in the design and size of his pieces, without any compromise because of cost. Moreover, silver was a sacred substance to the ancient Egyptians. They believed that it provided power for continued enlightenment and was instrumental in the disposal of unwanted negative energy.

Each of Alexey’s pieces are handcrafted using the same lost wax casting and glass enamelling processes used by the ancient Egyptians thousands of years ago. Each of his silver pieces is crafted with same care and attention to detail as his gold or platinum pieces, resulting in silver jewelry of exceptional quality.
